The Art Step is an online platform that offers courses and resources to collectors who want to understand art from the inside out and build a world class collection on whatever budget.
Why The Art Step?
Making informed decisions as a collector can really pay off! I teach collectors how to understand art from the inside out. Once you have enough of an overview of what kind of art you want to collect, recognizing the very best work returns dividends in terms of enjoyment, intellectual challenge, and social status — not to mention the potential of an investment which could appreciate 2-10x (or even more!) within 10-15 years. You might even be happily surprised at how collecting opens up an exciting portal that offers special access to art world social events as well as artists’ studios. There’s also the potential to make a big difference in an artist’s life — particularly if you start collecting their work early in their career.

About The Art Step
The Art Step was created for busy professionals who are considering building a serious art collection and want an efficient way to learn the essentials. I enjoy guiding my Art Step members to develop a vision for world-class collections that align with their ideals, interests, and personalities. Being an art critic and college professor gives me an additional edge when teaching the skills to recognize the various factors that would make a work of art an excellent addition to their collection. From my perspective, the best way to collect is the middle path of pursuing a passion for finding great art, enjoying living with it, and ideally having your collection increase in value. The art connoisseurship skills I teach can help collectors with budgets of six or seven figures just as profoundly as those with a budget of 4 figures (or less!).
