Sarah Goffstein is an art advisor, college professor, writer, and artist living in New York City. She has been teaching college-level courses in Art Appreciation and studio art for over 16 years and recently taught at Parsons School of Design. Originally a painter, she earned an Interdisciplinary MFA at the University of Pennsylvania. Sarah began writing art criticism for the Brooklyn Rail in 2013 and has also contributed to publications such as Sculpture and artcritical.
Working as an art advisor, Sarah discovered that many successful people have a gap in knowledge that makes it hard for them to begin collecting art. She started a YouTube channel in 2018 to help make the art world more accessible. After producing a few episodes, she quickly realized that early-stage collectors need a cohesive and efficient framework of knowledge from which to begin their collecting journey. This led to Sarah to found The Art Step in 2019 to offer early-stage art collectors the resources to learn how to identify and acquire excellent works of art from emerging, mid-career, and bluechip artists.
When not working quietly on her laptop, Sarah frequents the latest exhibitions of Modern and contemporary art, works in the studio, designs jewelry, and tends to her recent interest in plants.
The Art Step will be launching soon. To find out more about upcoming events and offers, please join our mailing list.
